National makerspaces V-Startup and Wisemind are set to create an industrial internet research institute.

The announcement was made at the "Advanced Manufacturing, Future of AI" forum held at the Zhongguancun International Makers' Center on May 20.

Nearly a hundred experts, scholars and investors attended the forum to discuss internet industry and its development prospects.

Industrial internet is a global network that combines advanced machines with key software, sensors and analytical technology.

It is currently a main focus of Chinese economic development with the strategic task and development focus of promoting deep integration of information with industrialization.

The research institute will be Zhongguancun's first, as well as the first in the country to be launched by the private sector. It is aimed at uniting colleges, scientific research institutes, leading enterprises and investment capital to create an industry-leading think tank to provide solutions and intellectual support for Chinese manufacturing structural transformation and upgrading.

At the forum, an internet incubator project was also established.
