ZTE Corporation, Chinese provider of telecom equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, announced that its mobile devices unit will operate as an independent unit of the company led by Executive Vice President of ZTE Zeng Xuezhong.
Zeng was previously in charge of ZTE's operations in China. Meanwhile, He Shiyou, executive vice president of ZTE and former head of terminals, will remain as an executive director of the company.
As the new leader of ZTE mobile devices, Zeng will be fully responsible for the operations of this unit. In regards to the future operating model of this unit, ZTE will reportedly adopt an independent operating processes from procurement, manufacturing, development, sales to delivery, in addition to independent financial accounting.
According to a representative from ZTE, the company plans to promote young leaders. The company hopes to have more executives, who dare to innovate, able to see the bigger picture and are good at coordination.
Apart from these changes, ZTE appointed Pang Shengqing, senior vice president of ZTE, as head of ZTE's enterprise business. ZTE anticipates that rising demand for cloud computing, big data, smart city technologies and the Internet of Things will help drive growth in the company's enterprise business. Meanwhile, Zhao Xianming, executive vice president of ZTE, was appointed chief technology officer of ZTE
ZTE said the structure and executive changes are based on the company's operating strategy for 2014. In 2014, the company is excited about the opportunities in enterprise and mobile devices, and the organizational changes will strengthen their capabilities in these areas, said Hou Weigui, chairman of ZTE Corporation. Telecommunications and technology are intensely competitive industries, and it is vital that they constantly renew themselves in order to excel.
