Nearly 100 government officials and business representatives attended the launching ceremony of the Green Technology and Cultural Industry Alliance – which aims to promote green and cultural sectors on the Chinese mainland and Taiwan – at Beijing’s Taiwan Center on August 19.
The alliance is an initiative of the Zhongguancun International Environmental Protection Industry Promotion Center (ZIPIC) and Taiwan Green Productivity Foundation, and it will serve as a platform for cross-Strait cooperation in emerging industries – such as energy conservation, environmental protection, biological technology and green energy.
It also aims to establish a cross-Strait cultural creativity research center, thus enhancing Taiwan’s competitive advantage in this area, and also making use of Zhongguancun’s strength in innovation to bring new opportunities that would benefit both sides.
In addition, ZIPIC - the executive committee of the alliance – and several green technology companies signed a cooperation agreement that will promote recycling of LED lights, treatment of urban sewage, pollution management and the construction of eco parks.
The organizing committee also held two discussions on environmental protection and cultural creativity after the ceremony.
