Zhang Yongqi is a member of the Beijing Democratic League and the director of the China Chain Operation Association. He is also the CEO of Global Education & Technology Group and president of its affiliated Global IELTS School headquarters.

Zhang established the Global IELTS School in 1997. Since then, he has devoted himself to private education and the school's rapid growth.

After getting funding from SAIF in September 2006, Zhang founded the Global Education & Technology Institute. In October 2010, the limited company with the same name listed on the NASDAQ in the United States.

The company mainly provides language training, job training, technology innovation, book dissemination, application consultancy and other services for culture and education.

Zhang Yongqi received the Beijing Most Influential Educator award in 2006 and was a Beijing Outstanding Young Entrepreneur in 2007. In the same year, he received the Special Award of Merit from the British embassy in China for its dedication to IELTS development in the nation.
