Zheng Gang, chairman of Yunnan Radio and Television Group, and KAM, director of the National Television of Cambodia (TVK), signed the Cooperation Agreement of the Project of Digital Terrestrial Television Adopting the Chinese DTMB Standard in Cambodia.
Yunshu Media Company, affiliated with Yunnan Radio and Television Group, will join hands with TVK to build a transmission network for digital terrestrial television in Cambodia. The country will adopt the Chinese DTMB standard.
DTMB stands for Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast. The Chinese DTMB standard was independently developed and widely adopted in China. The new project in Cambodia will promote the digital development of Cambodia's radio and television, providing high quality television images and colorful TV programs for thousands of households.
The Yunnan provincial television station and TVK will offer more diversified cultural products for TV audiences. With the increase of mutual understanding and trust, the project will lay a solid foundation for higher level cooperation in broader fields.
According to Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith, the new project has promising market prospects in Cambodia. He also promised to provide possible support for the project's implementation.
He noted that the project can forge a better cooperative atmosphere for digital television broadcasting between Cambodia and Yunnan province in China, providing a basis for exchanges in news, films and television, as well as personnel training between the Yunnan television station and TVK.
The agreement was signed with support from the Digital Television National Engineering Lab (Beijing).
