Pan Haidong obtained his doctorate from Boston University, a master's degree from Tsinghua University, and a bachelor's degree from Beijing University of Technology. He also studied at the "Advanced History Workshop" at Beijing University.
He is a member of the ninth All-China Youth Federation and a director of the All-China Youth Federation Sodality of Chinese Studying Overseas.
Pan and his team currently run the largest Chinese encyclopedia website www.hudong.com. He formerly served as CIO of AsiaEC, China's largest e-commerce site for office supplies.
When he studied in the United States, Pan was co-president of the Harvard China Review, attracting major attention from Chinese and American media at the international annual meeting hosted by Harvard University. Pan was also the president of branch meetings of the MIT Talent Forum, encouraging overseas students to return and work in China.
As an overseas businessman, Pan was interviewed by major Chinese media, such as Xinhua News Agency and People's Daily. He has also met with Chinese Party and State leaders.
In 2009, Pan was chosen for the "One Thousand Talents Plan", a program that aims to attract back top Chinese scholars working abroad.
