Rong Xiuli graduated from Hunan University with a degree in mechanical and automation engineering. In 1992, Rong enrolled in the Chinese International Management Institute where she received an MBA.
In 1994, Rong went into business and later became the general agent for Samsung mobile phones in China.
In 2002, Rong launched Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment Co Ltd, specializing in mobile phone research, development, and manufacturing.
In 2003, Rong's organization initiated a full system of distribution channels, research and development, and customer services.
In March 2009, Rong's company K-Touch surpassed Motorola in market share, becoming the first Chinese mobile phone brand to enter the top three in the Chinese market.
In 2008, Rong began cooperation with Microsoft, Qualcomm, Infineon, Intel, and other world-class enterprises, bringing K-Touch into the 3G era.
In May 2008, K-Touch attracted investment of 530 million yuan ($83.10 million) from Warburg Pincus, the second-largest US private-equity firm.
Now K-Touch has become China's number one domestic mobile phone brand, ranking third after Nokia and Samsung.
