Wu Hongliu

Wu was one of the main scientists artificially synthesizing Vancomycin in 1999. He won the NRSA award from the National Institute of Health (NIH), published a dozen of papers in world famous academic journals and has developed multiple patents.

Wu Hongliu was born in 1963 in Huanggang, Hubei province. He obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry at the Nankai University in 1982 and a PhD in organic chemistry at Duke University in 1997.

Later, he entered SCRIPPS research institution for post-doctoral studies. In 2002, he studied for an MBA degree at the Anderson school, University of California, Los Angeles.

Wu was one of the main scientists artificially synthesizing Vancomycin in 1999. He won the NRSA award from the National Institute of Health (NIH), published a dozen of papers in world famous academic journals and has developed multiple patents.

From 1999 to 2006, Wu worked as a department director and senior researcher in three bio-pharmaceutical companies in the United States. He developed a number of new drugs. In 2006, he returned to China. He founded the Beijing Kaining Bioscience Technology Co Ltd in the Haidian Business Park of Beijing Returned Overseas, working as general manager.
