The Hangzhou Sunny Energy Science and Technology Co is located in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, which is a famous city for its history, culture, and tourism and as a major center for the Yangtze River Delta and connections with nearby Shanghai. The company, which was founded in 2001, is a pioneer in China's new energy business, with headquarters in Hangzhou’s Zhejiang University National Science Park. It also has two manufacturing sites in the cities of Fuyang and Tonglu,, both in Zhejiang.

The key products of Hangzhou Sunny Energy Science and Technology Co Ltd are photovoltaic (PV) products with integrated services and PV systems, including solar cells, PV modules, EVA film, PV mountings, grid-connected inverters, PV energy storage systems, and LED lighting. It combines R&D and manufacturing as well as the development and operation of PV power stations for large-scale PV power applications across China, bringing solar energy and power to every household.

In its nearly 10–year history, Hangzhou Sunny has kept its focus on new energy industries and has become one of the few Chinese companies with its own technology, such as building-integrated, grid-connected inverter, energy storage systems and distributed PV power generation. Its PV products are in wide use in China's Golden Sun Program, and its power generation programs and large solar power stations are in use abroad as well.

The company’s advanced technology and achievements have won it the following recognition: National New High-Tech Enterprise Award, National Industrial Demonstration Program Award, and China Golden Sun Program Award, and have made it a member of the Zhejiang Solar Energy Industry Assoc. It is also one of China’s first 18 demonstration sites for distributed PV power generation, one of the country’s first 100 PV enterprises to comply with Solar Manufacturing Regulations, and one of China’s 121 PV enterprises to get a European Commission exemption from dumping duties.
