On April 16, the Vice Governor of Anhui province Hua Jianhui had a meeting with Shao Qiwei, the Director of the National Tourism Bureau.

During the meeting, Hua briefly summarized the cooperation between Anhui's government and the Bureau in 2013, and introduced the government's tourism plans for 2014, especially those in need of support from the Bureau.

In 2013, Anhui's government stuck to its previous plans and strengthened its leadership. The tourism industry has therefore grown rapidly and healthily.

The local government will continue to implement the spirit of the third plenary session of the Party's eighteenth central committee and concentrate on promoting reform and innovations in tourism. More specifically, the Anhui government will focus on such aspects as constructing the southern Anhui international cultural tourism demonstration area and integrating tourism with related industries.

As Hua pointed out, the government could not have made such satisfactory achievements without the support of the National Tourism Bureau, so the Anhui government is especially grateful to the Bureau.

Director Shao fully affirmed the achievements made by the Anhui government. Tourism and related investments in Anhui had been growing quite fast during a national slowdown, he said, and this was in the main due to the great efforts made by the local government.

The development of modern tourism in China mostly began after Deng Xiaoping's "Huangshan Mountain Talk". Since then, national leaders have made many important directives on this issue. Shao expressed his wishes for Anhui's government to continue developing its tourism through innovative reforms with support from the Bureau, and subsequently to use tourism development as a boost for Anhui’s economy.
