On April 6, the second day of the Qingming Holiday, all the busy streets in Huangshan city were flooded with tourists and vehicles. Within a single day, Huangshan scenic area received 41,408 tourists; another 30 thousand tourists went to She county and 15 thousand to Xiuning county. Most of these tourists were driving their own cars from elsewhere in Anhui province or the Yangtze River Delta region.
Jiuhua Mountain scenic spot received nearly 64,000 visitors, which is 50.6 percent higher than the usual number. Ticket sales amounted to 4.89 million yuan ($0.79million), 50.29 percent higher than usual. Starting from April 5, the area implemented traffic controls, forbidding tourist vehicles from entering the central scenic area after 5:30 a.m. Additionally, extra parking lots were temporarily opened to alleviate the burden.
In Anqing city, the 12 scenic spots monitored received nearly 174,000 visitors, earning 5.22 million yuan ($0.84 million) from ticket sales. Among them, Tianzhu Mountain alone received 6,080 tourists, which is 125.2 percent higher than usual. The Five-Thousand-Year Cultural Garden, the Fu Mountain and the Jushi Mountain received 15,100, 13,000, and 3,900 tourists respectively.
