Huangshan becomes world's first excellent scenic destination

At the beginning of the New Year, Huangshan scenic spot received a "gift" from Montreal, the second largest city in Canada. The gift was a certificate of achievement issued by World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED), approving Huangshan as a network member of the CED. The award makes Huangshan the 16th “World Excellent Destination” and the first tourist attraction in the world to get the title.

The CED, founded in 2006, is a partner of the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations, the Asia and Pacific Tourism Association and other international agencies. It is also an authoritative organization on a global scale creating performance evaluations for tourist destinations.

By the end of 2012, the CED signed a cooperation agreement with Huangshan scenic spot on implementation of the world excellent destination evaluation system. The CED categorized its evaluation areas into four aspects, including sustainable protection, proper organization and management, rich experience activities, and perfect industrial services, forming the "Huangshan Report of CED Evaluation System." Huangshan passed all evaluation items.

Huangshan will continue to deepen cooperation with the CED, participating in the revision of the "World Excellent Destination (Scenic) Evaluation System." It is the third time Huangshan will be involved in the formulation of international standards, following the "Global Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard" and the “Sustainable Development Guide of the Global Hotel Industry and Tour Operators."
