In its recent reply to an invitation from Sustainable Travel International (STI), the Huangshan Mountain scenic area has agreed to be part of an initiation by the Global Sustainable Tourism Destination Leaders League.
Huangshan Mountain has been engaging in internationalization for several years. Its major efforts include joining the World Travel and Tourism Council, Global Sustainable Tourism Council, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and World Conservation Union (IUCN).
It has established friendly relationships with several world-famous tourism attractions. It has also won the World Tourism Destination Management Award and the World Tourism Social Responsibility Award.
Even more noticeable is its participation in the drawing up of the Standard of Sustainable Tourism Global Destinations and the Guide of Sustainable Development of the Global Hotel Industry and Travel Operators.
With STI taking the lead, world class scenic spots, including Huangshan Mountain of China, Yellowstone of the USA and the fjords of Norway, will jointly establish the league on November 5. The league will seek to promote sustainable development of world tourism through communication and joint marketing.
