Macao showcases Anhui artwork
Updated: 2012-10-30

In collaboration with Anhui Museum, Macao will showcase for the first time 120 works from the Xin'an School dating from the late Ming (1368-1644) and early Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

The exhibition, titled Masters in Seclusion, will include ethereal landscapes and emotive calligraphy from masters such as Jian Jiang, Zha Shibiao, Da Benxiao and Cheng Sui.

In 17th century China, a group of academics, later known as the Xin'an School, sequestered themselves near Huangshan Mountain in Anhui province to devote themselves to the discipline of calligraphy and painting.

9 am - 5 pm, until Nov 18 Macao Museum of Art Xian Xing Hai Avenue, S/N Nape. 853-8791-9814
