Hefei to open flight routes to Japan and Thailand in 2012
Updated: 2012-02-17

The Hefei Tourism Aviation Training Center aims to increase their budget to 35 million yuan for airline funding and plans on opening flight routes from Hefei to Japan and Thailand this year.

Development of Hefei air travel routes will continue to prioritize "international routes first and domestic ones second", with new lines to Japan and Thailand. The route to Osaka, Japan, is expected to open with two flights a week at the end of March or the beginning of April.

As for domestic routes, in order to strengthen communication with the Yangtze River Delta region and the western region, focus will be placed on Lanzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou. In addition, lines to Lanzhou, Shijiazhuang, Changchun, Hohhot, Yinchuan and Lijiang will also open this year.

In recent years, the Luogang Airport in Hefei city has opened several international flight routes to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Seoul and Singapore, and increased flights to domestic cities such as Pudong (Shanghai), Beijing, and Guangzhou.

In order to support tourism in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, lines from Hefei to Urumqi and Hefei to Hetian were opened in July of 2011. At present, Hefei Luogang Airport has 44 navigable cities, 49 domestic routes, and six international routes.

The passenger throughput of the airport has been rising year by year. In 2009, the passenger capacity exceeded 3 million person-times. Last year, Luogang airport received 4.4 million passengers, seeing a year-on-year growth of 15.2 percent

The rapid development of the aviation market has been made possible with policy support from the city. For instance, Hefei recently amended and perfected the tourism aviation training policy and set up a government, airport and air company "three-in-one" working mechanism.
