HEFEI - Li Bin was newly elected as the governor of east China's Anhui Province at the 5th session of the 11th Anhui Provincial People's Congress closed here on Feb 15.

Li Bin,the former minister for China's National Population and Family Planning Commission, worked as the vice-governor and acting governor since she came to Anhui Province in December of 2011.Now she becomes the first female governor in China after being elected as the governor of the province.

She said she will do her best in playing the role of local governor and serve as people's servant for realizing the goal of constructing a "wonderful Anhui Province".

Zhang Baoshun,secretary of CPC Anhui Provincial Committee stressed the congress has inspired people in the province to build a modern and harmonious society.

Besides vital appointments for governmental leaders by secret ballot of local voters,the congress lasted for five days has also adopted many resolutions referring to 2012 year's Ahhui Provincial work report,operation for last year's Anhui Provincial economic and social development and new plans for this year,operation for Anhui Provincial budget and new plans for this year and so on.

The 5th session of the 10th CPPCC Anhui Provincal Committee was also closed the same day. Representatives at the two meetings, which was held every year,voted and put forward their suggestions to government on behalf of interests of local people.
