In the past it was the haunt of wolves, hence the name. Myriads of cross-gullies are distributed across the area, making it a vast natural maze. It was discovered in November 2001 and developed in March 2002, and was formally open to the public in May 2003.
Given the fact that most of rocks here are limestone and thus extremely easily eroded by water, the whole scenic area exhibits typical karst landforms. According to some experts, besides water erosion, the roots of trees and the soil have also contributed to the formation of the gullies. Jagged or whorly rocks are found all over this area, in which grow many plants.
The whole scenic area has about 267 hectares which can be developed, although only about 7 hectares have been developed so far. Because of its large area and well-defined karst topography, Wolf's Lane is extremely important for research and thoroughly deserves its title of No. l karst maze in the world.
