Linghu Lake

Linghu Lake scenic resort, located at the center of Anqing city, Anhui province, is a vast park where visitors can experience city-life and get a taste of local culture.

Water covers an area of 2,107 square km in the resort and the land area is 2,389 square km. Linghu Lake Park and the West Lake scenic area are also part of the resort.

The scenic park is composed of four smaller ones—Linghu Lake Park, Lianhu Lake Park, Wanjiang Park and the Cultural Square. There are five lakes visitors can enjoy: Linghu Lake, Lianhu Lake, Small Linghu Lake, the East Lake and the West Lake. In 2007, the integrated control project of Anqing Linghu Lake Scenic Resort was rewarded the China Habitat Environment Prize.

In ancient times, Linghu Lake was well-known for its rich lotus root, fish and shrimp. It was originally a natural lake with a small island. Lotus from Hangzhou were introduced and planted in the lake eight hundred years ago. Later, it was extended to a tourism resort. The lake has a long history of more than 260 years.
