Located in Yaogang, Feidong County in the eastern suburbs of Hefei, the site was first open to the public in July 1985. It has now become a key historical monument under state protection.
It maintains the original sites of the General Front Committee of the PLA for the Crossing-the-Yangtze-River Campaign in the War of Liberation in 1949, its Staff Office, Confidential Affairs Office, Secretariat, Logistic Affairs Office, Guard Battalion and hospital, as well as the site of the East China Bureau under the CPC Central Committee.
The memorial hall contains over 700 exhibits and photographs, 108 inscriptions, painting and calligraphic works by generals and commanders of the PLA, and 36 inscriptions of the high-ranking leaders of the Party and the government. Moreover, in the exhibition hall called "Ode to the Crossing River Campaign", visitors can find the works of such famous calligraphers and painters as Shu Tong (1906-1998), Lai Shaoqi (1915-2000), Zou Dezhong (born in 1938) and Guo Gongda (born in 1931).
As a witness to history and a sacred place of the revolution, the memorial hall has become the Revolution and Patriotism Education Base for the Nanjing Military Area of the PLA, Anhui University, Hefei Artillery Academy of the PLA and dozens of universities.
