The intangible cultural heritage representation, which was inaugurated on June 20 at Astana Expo, is likely to prove one of the highlights of Jiangsu Week.

"It was already a huge hit during our last appearance of tie-dying crafts at Milan Expo," said Jiao Huirong, a Chinese craft artist. "This time, it's only taking half a day to run out of the calicoes that I prepared for people to have a hands-on experience."

Visitors experience the craft of tie-dying at Jiangsu Week.

Xia Dong, also a craft artist from Suzhou, Jiangsu province, shares the same feeling.

"What I want is to get our fruit pit carving, the most characteristic cultural heritage of Jiangsu, more exposed to the whole world through the Expo," Xia said.

In addition to tie-dying and fruit pit carving, visitors to Jiangsu Week will have a chance to get to know the traditional embroidery method called disordered needlework constructed by Yang Shouyu in the 1920s.
