Zeta-Jones makes cooking look easy(FWD)
Updated: 2007-07-27 20:54 New York - Catherine Zeta-Jones dripped in diamonds and looked ravishing in a garnet Emanuel Ungaro minidress that sparkled with Swarovski crystals at the premiere of her new romantic comedy "No Reservations," but that fabulous facade still can't help her in the kitchen. The ravishing brunette plays a top chef in the comedy, but she admitted to reporters during a press event for the film that she's not exactly a whiz in the kitchen even after learning to pretend to be one for the movie. "The idea of being a chef, for me, was pretty terrifying, to be quite honest with you. I'm serious," she laughed. "I still don't cook at all, though, but I have a new appreciation for being in the kitchen. I have a new appreciation for when the catered food gets put on my table, as to how much goes into it as opposed to going, Is this cooked right?'" Zeta-Jones attended the premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City sans Michael Douglas, her famous husband; instead, her co-stars Aaron Eckhart, Bob Balaban, Arija Bareikis, Lily Rabe, Eric Silver, and Celia Weston joined her on the red carpet, along with the film's director Scott Hicks. Later, at the after party at Bar Americain, elegant food was served, but not the weird combination that Zeta-Jones admitted earlier that she just adores eating, despite how unappetizing it sounds to most of us. "This might sound so ridiculous and so crazy, but I can't resist smoked salmon sandwiches on brown bread with potato chips in the middle crushed down. I had them during each of my pregnancies and I actually had it [recently] for dinner as well. It's one of those comfort foods for me," she revealed. Plus, it's an easy dish to make, even for a cooking-phobic superstar. Just pile the salmon and chips between the pieces of bread, add "a little bit of lemon, a little bit of salt and pepper," and you're good to go. The svelte 37-year-old actress (and mother of two) also admitted that it takes work to keep herself in such great shape, work she's not crazy about doing. "I have to drag myself down to the gym like everyone else," she said. "But when I finish it I do enjoy it - and I can eat more smoked salmon sandwiches with potato chips crushed in the middle!" |
