Peking Opera summer camp

The Peking Opera Red Cliff produced by the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) has won wide acclaim since its debut in December 2008. With its elaborate sets, ingenious special effects and a cast of leading Peking Opera artists, the show has revived people's love for the old art.

Last month, NCPA released a DVD of the performance with additional backstage scenes.

The NCPA will also launch a Peking Opera summer camp in August. Children aged between 10 and 12 are eligible and can apply for the program at www.chncpa.org. Auditions will take place from July 6 to 21. Children attending the summer camp will receive basic training from Peking Opera artists and take part in a full-length performance of Red Cliff at the end of August.
