Updated: 2009-11-17 09:35 Lahu Kuota Festival of Pu'er Date: January 25-30, 2009 (30th day of the 12th month to 5th day of the first month by lunar calendar) Venue: Lancang County, Pu’er City Traditionally known as Lahu Year, Kuota Festival is one of the grandest, most lively and joyful festivals of the Lahu ethnic people, they obey such folkways such as to rush for “new water”, offer the fresh water and rice cake as sacrifices to their ancestors, farm cattle and farm implements on 1st day of the first month by lunar calendar. In addition, they also develop a variety of activities such as young girls and men throwing bags to express love, spinning top racing and grand Lusheng (a free reed mouth organ) dance. |
