Top tips for earthquake safety
A warehouse in Tianjin, a metropolis located 126km southeast of Beijing, exploded at 11:34:06 pm on Aug 12 with a power equivalent to three-ton of TNT bombs, or 2.3-magnitude earthquake. A second explosion followed 30 seconds lator, creating impact equivalent to 21-ton TNT blast or 2.9-magnitude earthquake, according to wave recording data from China Earthquake Administration.

1. Be prepared
Stock up on supplies in case of an earthquake, such as a supply of canned and prepackaged dry food and bottled water. Also buy a flashlight, allergy medication supplies and blankets. These could be vital in ensuring your survival.
