Dial 'L' for love
Reflection: The couple today. |
They had only five months to decide their future because the resort in the icy town opens in winter only and Deng would be sent elsewhere when it closed.
"Those fi ve months together convinced me that I'll go anywhere he goes. We were very close in mind and spirit. People could be forgiven for thinking we had been together for years," she says.
To avoid staying in different places, they resigned in 2011 and moved to Shanghai.
"We both made compromises. I had never thought of living in another city, and he gave up the chance to be promoted," she says.
"Love is easy if we show mutual understanding and tolerance. 'Mutual' is the most important element," Deng says.
They tied the knot in Bali in 2013. Cui walked to her groom on a beautiful carpet paved with fl owers to the accompaniment of From This Moment On, wearing a gorgeous gown and on her father's arm.
"When I walked toward him, my memories flew back to the days when we fi rst met," Cui says.
"We picked Bali as it was where he bought the first gift for me and we were just friends back then. But I fell in love with him when I first heard his voice on the phone."
