The 67th World Health Assembly kicks off on Monday to discuss the key global health issues, such as the post-2015 health development agenda and progress towards UN Millennium Development Goals.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) annual assembly grouped more than 3,000 delegates from its 194 member states at the Palais des Nations, the headquarters of the United Nations Office at Geneva during the six-day conference.

The member states delegates will focus their discussion on the post-2015 health development agenda prepared by WHO Executive Board.

They will also discuss and make decisions on other global issues, including WTO reforms, progress towards the UN Millennium Development Goals, as well as prevention and control over noncommunicable diseases.

Cuban Health Minister Roberto Morales is voted to preside over the 67th World Health Assembly, which takes place on May 19-24, 2014.

As the supreme decision-making body of WHO, the main functions of the assembly are to determine the policies of WHO, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed program budget.
