Almost one third Germans regard themselves overweight

Around 30 percent of Germans find themselves overweight, a newly released survey commissioned by a German health magazine has shown.

The Nuremberg-based market research institute GfK has interviewed about 2000 men and women aged over 14 years for the magazine "Apotheken Umschau".

In the survey, 27.9 percent of men feel that they are too corpulent.

Women are more critical when it comes to their bodies, 38.3 percent of them complain of too many pounds on the hips, abdomen or thighs.

In the survey, 3.4 percent of the participants identified themselves as obese.

But the actual number of overweighed is higher.

According to a study of the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, which is a part of the Federal Ministry of Health, 67 percent of men and 53 percent of women aged from 18 years old are overweight.
