Focusing on altitude sickness

China Daily | Updated: 2013-11-13 10:41

The Chongqing Xinqiao Hospital says it has established a clinical database of acute mountain sickness with more than 20,000 clinical specimens.

Since 2011, about 60 medical specialists with the hospital have spent up to two months every year accompanying new travelers to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. They recorded changes in the physical conditions and exhaustion levels of the travelers under different geographic conditions, and they collected travelers' blood samples to complete the world's largest clinical specimen library on acute mountain sickness for research.
