Magnificent is a word often used to describe Taiwan's east coast. Instead of soft sand, wind battered rocks stand on the beach, constantly engulfed by rising tides.

Taiwan Island is surrounded by ocean on all sides, but its many sections of coastline have their own distinguishable features. For example in Kenting, where the island's northern tip reaches out into the Philippine sea, the ocean view is playful while in the east, the sea water is often seen violent with constantly surging waves. Hualien is the biggest city on Taiwan's east coast and a major stop for tourists who want to enjoy the ocean scenery.
