Chinese actress and green-living advocate Zhou Xun has been honored as one of the 2011 Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum.
Zhou was cited by Sina.com.cn on Thursday, March 17, 2011 saying that winning the title brought her great encouragement. She says she hopes more people would embrace the responsibility of helping bring the world a brighter future.
Being an A-list Chinese actress whose notable films include "The Message" ("Feng Sheng"; 2009) and "Perhaps Love" ("Ru Guo Ai"; 2005), Zhou has crafted another parallel career in environmental protection.
She is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Program working to help UNDP's climate change project, and is frequently seen at activities promoting a green lifestyle. Last year, she won the Champion of the Earth award from the UN Environment Programme.
The Forum of Young Global Leaders was established in 2004 by the World Economic Forum, a non-profit foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. The Forum of Young Global Leaders is a community of exceptional leaders from varied fields, who are under 40 and share a commitment to shaping the global future.
