Public libraries open free of charge

Public libraries in Shanghai have taken the initiative to open free of charge to the city's readers. Local authorities are also working to accelerate the program, and ensure that residents can enjoy all available services on a complimentary basis in the near future.

Libraries at all levels across the city are planning to establish digital reading rooms, in an effort to cater to the needs of various age groups. 

More than 200 municipal and community libraries in Shanghai have opened to the general public free of charge. Not only have annual membership fees been canceled, but lectures and exhibitions are also being presented on a complimentary basis.
