Young photographer wins Societe Generale art awards
Jiang Pengyi's photography artwork titled Unregistered City No 2 has bagged the Jury Grand Prize of 15,000 euros ($20,000) at the first Societe Generale Chinese Art Awards, 2010.
The awards, aimed at discovering the nation's young emerging artists, attracted more than 360 quality artworks during a two-month submission period.
The Jury Special Prize of 7,000 euros ($9,300) went to Luo Haiming and Qiu Shiming .
The works entered in the competition will be displayed in selected galleries and art spaces - in Beijing's 798 art district, as well as in Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Paris and Singapore, from January to May.
Societe Generale, one of France's oldest banks, has been involved in nurturing young talents in classical music and contemporary art around the world, since 1987.
