John Woo to lead jury
Veteran filmmaker John Woo will lead the jury of the Golden Goblet Award, the main competitive segment of the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival, which will open on June 12 and last nine days.
More than 2,300 films will compete for the Golden Goblet Award, the Asian New Talent Award and the International Students Shorts Award. Woo's team will include mainland director Wang Xiaoshuai and his Israeli counterpart Amos Gitai. South Korean director Hur Jin-ho will chair the jury of the Asian New Talent Award.
Two Chinese films are among those competing for the prestigious Golden Goblet, Ocean Paradise featuring Jet Li as the father of an autistic child, and young director Liu Jie's Deep in the Clouds.
The festival premiere will see the presence of top filmmakers and A-listers such as Feng Xiaogang, Fan Bingbing and Ge You. The Shanghai festival, which started in 1993, is the most influential film festival of the Chinese mainland.
