A-listers gather for awards

A-list pop singers and musicians gathered at the National Olympic Center on Friday night for the annual Beijing Pop Music Awards gala, one of the country's most influential events.

Pop veteran Wang Lee-hom (pictured) dominated this year's ceremony by notching four awards, while rocker Wang Feng followed with three awards.

Wang won the Most Popular Male Singer (Taiwan and Hong Kong), Best Composer of the Year (Taiwan and Hong Kong), for his 2008 track Sun in the Rain, Artist of the Year, and Producer of the Year (Taiwan and Hong Kong).

Rock musician Wang Feng garnered awards for Best Composer of the Year (Mainland) and Producer of the Year (Mainland) for his 2009 hit In Spring, and the top honor, Album of the Year, for his 2009 release Belief Flies in the Wind.

In other categories, Zhang Liangying took the Best Female Singer (Mainland) award for the fourth year in a row and Sha Baoliang won, for the first time, the Best Male Singer (Mainland) award; Eason Chan and CoCo Lee were awarded, respectively, Best Male Singer and Best Female Singer, from Taiwan and Hong Kong.

In addition, Korean pop idol Jang Woo-hyuk and Hong Kong's 1980s diva Priscilla Chan were special guests.

The Beijing Pop Music Awards is hosted annually by Beijing Music Radio, a longtime force behind China's pop music industry.
