Since 2003, Chinese painter Wan Yuxi and German artist Gunter Grossholz, both 38, have been working together as Wandamuto Studio. They dig into the history, culture and traditions of their motherlands, exploring the similarities and the differences. Their oil paintings are positively critical and would fit in with a sophisticated, international living room.
Wan was born in an artistic family in Beijing. She graduated from the prestigious Beijing Film Academy and had been a film director for years before going to Germany. She incorporates her film experiences into developing a reflective style of art creation (pictured). Grossholz was a passionate painter and sketcher from an early age. He is also adept at sculpting, writing and playing three musical instruments.
