Fake antique dealer ordered to return $26,000
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-07-31 09:51 A Beijing court recently ordered an antique dealer to return 178,000 yuan ($26,000) to a schizophrenic customer who was sold fake collectibles in 2005. Zhou was first diagnosed with the mental disorder in 1978, and has been on medication since. He bought antiques worth 178,000 yuan from a dealer surnamed Xu four years ago. All the collectibles turned out to be unoriginal. Xu agreed to return Zhou only 38,000 yuan, following which the latter filed a lawsuit. Pronouncing the deal "null and void", the court said Zhou was not in control of his actions when he bought the antiques. (Jinghua Times) |
