Art historian Gao Minglu has coined the term and concept Yi Pai to describe contemporary art inspired by Chinese philosophies. A grand exhibition running at Today Art Museum offers richly-layered visual support to his aesthetic concept. The exhibition, Yi Pai, New Thinking for a New Century, features 120 signature works of ink and oil paintings, sculptures, installations, and videos, by 78 Chinese contemporary artists. Among the most prominent names are those of Cai Guoqiang, Gu Wenda, Xu Bing, Huang Yongping, Zhang Huan and Zhang Peili.
