Syria talks end without breakthrough

By Agencies in Moscow and Ramallah, West Bank | China Daily | Updated: 2015-04-11 08:01

Talks between representatives of the Syrian government and some members of the opposition ended in Moscow on Friday with no sign of a breakthrough.

The end of talks came after the PLO said it will not be drawn into military action in an embattled Palestinian refugee camp in Syria.

The second meeting this year in Russia between the warring Syrian factions was marred by friction among the delegates and was boycotted by the Syrian National Coalition.

The PLO statement, issued late Thursday, contradicted comments earlier that day by the PLO envoy to Damascus, Ahmad Majdalani, that Palestinian groups are ready to join forces with the Syrian government to expel Islamic State fighters from the Yarmouk camp.
