China Daily USA | Updated: 2013-11-15 13:06

The Chinese and US armies conducted field training exercises for joint disaster relief on Thursday at Bellows Air Force Base on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Tursday's training focused on confined space rescue and breaking and breaching rescue and was part of exercises running from Nov 12 to 14 that will include indoor academic research and communication, field exercises and the showcasing of disaster relief equipment.

The US had 47 people participating in the drills from the US Army Pacific, the Hawaii Army National Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. A total of 48 Chinese officers and soldiers - mostly from the Chengdu Military Area - represented the Chinese side.
