FUZHOU - Fujian province plans to provide 100 agricultural projects worth $685 million to foreign capital, sources with the Fujian Agricultural Bureau said.
These projects will be presented at the 15th China International Fair for Investment and Trade due to open in China's eastern coastal city Xiamen on Sept 7.
Fujian attaches vital importance to agriculture in its 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) and aims to enhance the pace of agricultural development through effective use of foreign capital and advanced agricultural technologies, and increased exports of agricultural products.
Fujian will also encourage its enterprises to invest overseas and set up production bases to enhance international exchanges and cooperation in agriculture.
Policies will also be formulated to promote the export of agricultural products by supporting export-oriented enterprises, intensifying checks on product safety and making them more competitive in the global market.
The province is also committed to improving policies to establish a sound environment to attract foreign investment and enterprises from Europe and the United States.
In the past six months, the province's exports of agricultural products rose 42 percent to $3.19 billion, mainly to ASEAN countries, the US and Japan.
