ROK blames DPRK for disrupting GPS signals

2011-03-09 17:28

SEOUL - Defense chief of Republic of Korea (ROK) on Wednesday pointed a finger at Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as culpable for jamming GPS signals, local media reported.

Defense minister Kim Kwan-jin told a parliamentary session the disruption originated from the DPRK border city of Kaesong and Mount Kumgang, Seoul's Yonhap News Agency said, citing a source who participated in the session that was not made public.

Military authorities here have suspected the deliberate interruption was intended to mess up the ongoing joint military drills between ROK and the United States, which the DPRK condemns as preparation for a nuclear war.

The DPRK has yet to officially mention the issue.
