PARIS - A light tourist plane with two people on board crashed on Monday morning in southwestern France, local media reported.
The MCR aircraft fell down shortly before 8:00 am local time near the airport of the Royan city, but the cause of the accident is unknown yet, local rescuers were quoted as saying.
The airport said the weather at the site was fine. A 63-year-old pilot was killed in the accident, while his passenger was seriously injured.
Local government of Charente-Maritime, where the plane crashed, has confirmed the casualties.
The France's Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Security is set to launch an investigation as its officer was on the way to the scene.
