MANILA - The Philippine Coast Guard sent a team to investigate reported oil spill in the northern province of Batangas early Tuesday, coast guard said in a statement.
Upon arrival at the site, the Marine Environment Protection Group personnel proceeded to the spill site. The initial investigation revealed that an area of 80 meters by 12 meters have been affected by bunker fuel oil scattered in the mangrove area of Batangas.
It is reported that four vessels were seen in the area shortly before the oil spill occurred.
