DPRK changes premier

PYONGYANG - Kim Yong Il, premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), was replaced by Choe Yong Rim, general secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the DPRK, in the third session of the 12th SPA that took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Monday, the official news agency KCNA reported.

Kim Yong Il was recalled from the post of premier and Choe Yong Rim was elected to the post at the proposal of the Political Bureau of the Worker's Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee at the end of the discussion on the first agenda item.

Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the WPK and chairman of the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK, attended the meeting.

Besides, Jang Song Thaek was elected as vice-chairman of the NDC at the proposal of Kim Jong Il in the second agenda item. Some cabinet members were recalled and appointed at the session.
