China is still trying to find a suitable way for its reform and development, and the country never thinks of its development as a model, Premier Wen Jiabao told a press conference Monday.
"We think every country should take its own development path which suits its condition, and we respect all these choices," Wen said at the conference held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Wen said China's economy and the society have experienced fast development after more than 30 years of reform and opening up, and people's living standards have improved substantially.
"The government has been taking sincere care of the current social and economic problems, and the public has witnessed the efforts," Wen added.
China overtook Japan as the world's second-largest economy last year but the country should also face the fact it has a huge population with limited resources and an unbalanced economy, and the country is still a developing nation, Wen said.
Wen said China's has taken a development path that suits its own condition and the country will strive to achieve sustainable development, social justice, stability and a guarantee of people's rights.
