The central government adopted an emergency mechanism to supply agricultural products to Hong Kong and Macao ahead of the Spring Festival. The two regions have spoken highly of the procedure, Xinhua.net reported.
"A steady and varied supply of meat, fish and vegetables in Hong Kong was ensured by the central government. The quality was assured, too. We are very grateful for such an arrangement," Jiang Yudui, the president of China Civic Education Promotion Association of Hong Kong (CCEPA) said.
Hong Kong's Center for Food Safety has tested more than 64,000 food samples, and 99.7 percent passed the test, according to the website.
"The central government has made series of measures to ensure the supply of agricultural products and necessities during the spring festival so the residents can enjoy a happy Chinese new year," said Tan Boyuan, the head of Macao's government financial office.
