China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), the country's largest energy company, will expand its network of oil and natural gas pipelines by 80 percent in the five years through 2015, Bloomberg reported on Dec 1.

CNPC built 18,000 kilometers of pipelines in the five years started 2006, according to data from the announcement.
CNPC operates 70 percent of China's oil pipelines and 90 percent of its gas links currently, according to the company.
China began receiving gas by pipeline from Turkmenistan in December last year and started production at Puguang gas field in the southwestern province of Sichuan in October 2009.
