From renowned Chinese academic to World Bank Chief Economist

Professor Justin Yifu Lin is the World Bank's Chief Economist and Senior Vice President. He has been on leave from Peking University since 2008, where he was a professor and the Founding Director of the China Centre for Economic Research.
As Chief Economist, Lin guides the World Bank's intellectual leadership and plays a key role in shaping its research agenda. He is the Bank's first Chief Economist from a developing country.
Lin was a deputy of China's People's Congress and a Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and is the author of 18 books, including the highly acclaimed The China Miracle: Development Strategy and Economic Reform.
