KATHMANDU: China Nepal Boda Hospital at New Baneshwar in the capital Kathmandu will be open to the public from Sunday.

The hospital, established with Chinese private sector investment, will provide quality health services at low prices, board members said at a press conference on Saturday.

Specialist medical treatment, including physiotherapy, ultrasound and laparoscopic surgery will be provided to the poor and the underprivileged at 50 Nepali rupees (some $0.6) per person, said Dr. Manoj Shrestha, honorary president.

The 50-bed-capacity hospital was constructed at a cost of nearly 80 million rupees (some $1.06 million). He said the poor would be provided with free medical services.

Chairman of the Hospital, Wang Daosheng said Nepali herbs and their popularity in the international market encouraged the Chinese to invest in Nepal's health sector.

"Nepali herbs are popular in international markets. However, but we found them to be used little here, therefore, we wanted to do something for the sector," Daosheng said.
