Noting that China and Chile are celebrating 10 years of operations of their free-trade agreement, Frei said mining continues to dominate exports to China, lead by $12.8 billion in copper last year. But both countries are eager to deepen the agreement, he said, and the events are highlighting seafood, wine, fresh fruit and other agricultural products from Chile to promote more trade in those areas.
Premium winemaker Eduardo Chadwick was one of the VIPs on hand for the kick-off event. There was also a dance performance by Rapa Nui from Easter Island.
